Q - How much does it cost?

A - Systems can be as simple as a pair of data jacks from $120 to a full blown home automation system for $200,000. Most of our clients will spend around $50,000 for a fairly comprehensive system.  Let us know what you are trying to achieve and we will design a system to suit you.

Q – Can it be retrofitted?

A – Of course! Automation Associates specialise in retrofitting systems. We have the staff, tools and knowledge to install in even the trickiest retrofit situations.

Q – Shall I wait until it gets cheaper?

A – No - act NOW especially if you are building!  There will never be a better, more cost effective time to install a system. The cost of retrofitting can be from twice to nine times the cost, so take this great opportunity to get the wiring installed while you are building.

Q – What about wireless?

A – Wireless is still a fallback option for us.  It is convenient to be able to check your emails by the pool, and our structured cabling system will provide a location for your Wireless access point to operate from but we don't recommend basing your entire data, phone, security and audio system on wireless. Apart from the security and radiation aspects, what if your house is built but there is no coverage where you need it – what then? A sensible approach is to lay an inexpensive backbone of cabling throughout the site to give you plenty of options into the future.

Q – Our building costs are going through a roof we don't yet have - can I prewire it now and install it in a few months?

A – Absolutley – aside from lighting, all our systems are able to be prewired now and commissioned at a later date. Most clients will install phone, TV and security straight away - while home theatre, multiroom audio and access control can usually wait a few months if needs be.

Q – HDMI, DVI, Hi-Def – What is it, do I need it?

A - Our friendly knowledgable staff will lead you through the techno-maze to a solution that suits you, explaining the technologies and options along the way. All our systems are designed with the future in mind – so even if you 're not sure what you want today, you will still be able to install it in the future.

Q – Are the systems reliable and easy to use?

A – Only if they are designed by us. It is very important to everyone at Automation Associates that systems are simple to use and reliable.  If they are not – we don't get referrals and we'd be out of a job! We select only the best equipment with simple controls for just that reason.

Q – I had a cheaper price from my electrician – why would I use you?

A – Would you send your BMW to a scooter shop for repair? It might cost less – but remember you are investing a lot of money in your home and we want to make sure you get the system that does everything you want – reliably. Unless specified otherwise our price includes installation - some companies will get you to sign on the dotted line before telling you that your sparky has to put it all in! Make sure you are crystal clear about what you are getting for your money.

Q – How long does it take to complete the job?

A – Retrofit jobs are usually done in a few days, Prewires are run in phases in conjunction with your builder and will be completed just as you are ready to move in.

Q – How quickly can I have a quote? 

A – After an initial design meeting with you a quote will usually take 48 hours to prepare after which we will present the quotation to you in person.
